A community designed
around its surroundings
SkyRidge is a true mountain community, one rooted in a love of the outdoors, created for people who love both nature and adventure.
It’s also part of the county resort overlay zone—the Jordanelle Specially Planned Area (JSPA)—designed to ensure thoughtful development and preserve what makes this place so special, including a unique location close to activities on the water with skiing across the way.
That’s why the homes and other structures you’ll find here look almost as if they’ve grown straight from the land, with various exteriors blending seamlessly with the surroundings and embracing the mountain environment. It’s why you’ll discover so much open space throughout the community. It’s why life just feels different here—a feeling that goes much deeper than appearances.
The history: Wasatch County’s planned community
The genesis of the JSPA was in 2002, when Wasatch County recognized the importance of building a plan for this spot tucked between Deer Valley® Resort and the Jordanelle Reservoir—a plan that would both enable the creation of a county “Resort Area” and protect its beauty.
A key part of the plan entailed the county layering additional design requirements on top of existing codes, ensuring a higher standard of architecture and building that truly fits the location. The 50 beautiful completed homes in SkyRidge all adhere to these elevated standards, and so will the others to come—50 more are currently under construction, and 47 plans are either in review or approved.
Natural focus
Here, nature is the focus—the building rules take views of the water and mountains into consideration, require unifying elements to create cohesion among structures, and blend simplicity with modern refinement.
“One day,” the planning documents state, the goal is for this land to “be a village (or series of villages) worthy of its stunning location.” Thanks to the foresight of county planners, and the thoughtful practices of the SkyRidge developer, that vision has become reality.
