JRA East Side Recreational Amenities and Facilities

Stretching from the banks of the Jordanelle to the upper reaches of Deer Valley Resort, the JRA is a year-round resort which will soon offer expanded ski terrain and lakeside access via the Bureau of Reclamation and Utah State Park facilities. In addition to the Extell Mayflower Mountain Village and new world-class facilities, the JRA calls for a variety of recreational amenities to be built on the East Side. Some of those amenities include a golf academy, equestrian center, and a comprehensive hiking, biking, and equestrian trail system which will all be a part of SkyRidge Mountain Community and open to the public.

Kemper Golf will operate the golf academy comprised of a driving range, practice facility, putting greens, pro shop, the latest in teaching technology, and an on-site PGA Professional. There will be a three-hole short course with multiple tees and greens, so a different routing can be played each time.

The state-of-the-art Equestrian Center will offer teaching and training programs for riders of all levels. Horse enthusiasts will have use of the 18-stall barn, training facility, indoor and outdoor arenas, pasture, washing and grooming areas, and dedicated horse trails.

Portal Construction Scheduled to Start March 2020

SkyRidge residents are one-step closer to enjoying direct access to Deer Valley Resort through the soon to be constructed undercrossings or portals beneath U.S. Highway 40. Local Jordanelle and Mayflower traffic around exit 8 will have convenient east-west access through the portals.

The extensive development happening in the Jordanelle Recreation Area (JRA) is a major accomplishment that has been decades in the making. The complexity of the JRA project requires continual collaboration between Wasatch County, Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), Military Installation Development Authority (MIDA) and area developers.

The connectivity provided by the new portals will reduce congestion and provide safe ingress/egress at the Mayflower interchange. The portals will be built with sufficient width to provide dedicated pedestrian and biking lanes.

Traffic congestion is among the top concerns for the Greater Park City Area residents and visitors. To address these concerns, the JRA is making it a priority to provide easy access and parking. Along with the portals and roundabouts, a “Transit System and Facility” will be developed to provide transportation services throughout the JRA east and west sides and connect to Park City and Heber City.

Transportation for Owners and their guests to a variety of local destinations, such as Deer Valley Resort, Park City Resort, Historic Main Street Transit Center, Canyons Village, Jordanelle State Park and the new Mayflower Mountain Resort will be available through our fleet of vehicles. SkyRidge Mountain Community will also offer charging stations for electric vehicles and e-bikes.

Mayflower Mountain Resort Village will be crescent shaped with the largest Ski Beach in the world leading to a base area with accommodations, restaurants and bars. Ski plans call for six ski lifts, two magic carpet conveyors, and a connecting lift to Deer Valley Resort.  There will be an extensive snow making system and trails for all ability levels.

Mayflower Mountain Resort

Extell Development Company publicly announced this week their master plan for the Mayflower Mountain Resort. Extell owns 5,600 acres located west of SkyRidge and adjacent to Deer Valley Resort.

This new Resort Village will be accessed from U.S. Highway 40 at the Mayflower exit 8 and will include 1,520 residential units, three hotels with 825 rooms and commercial units, 600 skier parking spaces, 95,000 square feet for workforce housing, and plans for a 68,000-square-foot recreation center that will be open to the public.

Initial ground clearing and road excavation has already started. Groundbreaking is scheduled to begin next spring for the MIDA hotel and convention center. Mayflower Mountain Resort is currently scheduled to open in the winter of 2021-2022.

Extell has also restructured the terms for the land they lease to Deer Valley Resort and extended the term to 199-years. This long-term land lease ensures an ongoing relationship between Extell and Deer Valley Resort.

Hiking, Biking and Equestrian Trails

SkyRidge has worked with Mountain Trails Foundation to implement a master trail system for the Jordanelle Area that connects back into the Greater Park City Area regional trail system. The Mountain Trails Foundation has built over 400 miles of trails in the area since 1992.

The network of trails in the Jordanelle Area will provide trail users with multiple types of outdoor experiences, and connect the different neighborhoods in the area to the Historic Rail Trail and Jordanelle Perimeter Trail.

The SkyRidge Mountain Community will have an extensive network of hard and soft surface, single-track, and double-track biking trails, equestrian-only trails, and hiking-only trails.  All trails will be open to the public.  There will be two trailheads with parking, restrooms, and kiosks, along with a paved trail adjacent to the Jordanelle Parkway that will connect to Park City Main Street.

MIDA Hotel

In the center of the Mayflower Mountain Resort will be the “Morale, Welfare and Recreation” facility, which is also known as the MIDA hotel. As part of the Resort Village, MIDA hotel guests will have access to year-round recreational opportunities including skiing, fly-fishing, boating, hiking, mountain biking and golfing along with restaurants, night clubs, spas and other amenities. The MIDA hotel is planned to be a four-star property that is eight stories tall and features 388 total guest rooms covering about 615,000 square feet as well as about 75,000 square feet of commercial and conference space. Active Duty Military and Veterans will have access to 100 rooms at reduced rates. Groundbreaking is scheduled to begin next spring and opening is planned for March 2022.

Jordanelle Recreation Area Design Handbook and Brand Approved

Wasatch County had the foresight and vision in 2002 to create the Jordanelle Specially Planned Area (JSPA), now known as the Jordanelle Recreation Area (JRA), which is where SkyRidge is located. Consisting of approximately 4,268 acres located in Wasatch County just next to the Summit County border, the JRA is approved for mixed uses such as single-family homes, condominiums, hotels, timeshares, retail shops, recreational facilities, and other support amenities consistent with a resort area.

The JSPA Planning Commission and the Wasatch County Council have recently approved the new Design Handbook and JRA brand for this unique four-season resort area. The Design Handbook governs the use of the JRA brand and the architectural style and character of this area, identifies key building features and materials, and standardizes community elements to create a quality resort experience with a unified appearance throughout the JRA.

SkyRidge Community Roads, Park and Trails

Construction will soon be mobilized for the Orion, Ursa, and Constellation subdivision roads, with expected completion by late fall. These roads will provide access to all 132 of the homesites in SkyRidge Phase One. The SkyRidge Trailhead Park includes several park amenities and will offer numerous trails which will connect with the Jordanelle State Park Perimeter Trail, Deer Valley, and the Greater Park City Area regional trail system.

The Ursa Subdivision consists of 43 homesites with prices ranging from $224,000 to $239,000.  This Subdivision is uniquely tucked into the gentle rolling hills and dotted with Gambel Oak trees.  It has an open space corridor between the two cul-de-sac roads, a pocket park in the middle of the subdivision, and a paved trail that connects to the SkyRidge master trail system.  Ursa also features a gain in elevation that allows for sweeping views of both Deer Valley Resort and the Jordanelle.
